Democrat Blair Williams Files for Clerk of Court

Former Chief Assistant Clerk Seeks to Fill Top Spot

Raleigh- A Chief Assistant to former Clerk of Court Lorrin Freeman, yesterday filed to run for Wake County Clerk of Court. Blair Williams, a Democrat who served in the Clerk’s office for seven years from 2007 to 2014, vows to return a commitment to customer service and excellence to the Court.

“I am proud to have served as a key member of the management team dedicated to transforming an ill-functioning courthouse. Together, we restored Wake County as a leader in courthouse use management,” Williams said.

After Lorrin Freeman was elected to District Attorney, Blair Williams returned to the private practice of law and has been working daily with Clerks of Court across the state since. Williams said, “My interactions with Clerks of Court statewide have led me to conclude there is a need to re-establish standards previously set by our Wake County Courthouse team. As Clerk, I will roll up my sleeves and work tirelessly to restore a commitment to customer service and excellence for our Court.”

The current Clerk of Court, a Republican, was elected in 2014 by a margin of under 3000 votes, less than 1% cast.
